The glance across a crowded room. A hand resting quietly on someone’s back. The chaos of children being completely themselves. The laugh that happens just after everyone stops trying to look good for the camera.

I’m Jakki — photographer, creative and the person behind Dust & Lace.

My path here started with fine art and makeup artistry before photography completely took over. Somewhere along the way, I traded Queensland beaches for country New South Wales, where home now looks a lot like family, horses, dogs, dust, beautiful light and a that is never camera too far away.

Photography, for me, has never really been about creating perfect moments.

It’s about recognising the good ones while they’re happening.

THE PERFORMANCE

You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need perfectly behaved children. And your wedding doesn’t need to run like a magazine shoot. I’ll offer direction when it helps, disappear into the background when it doesn’t, and pay attention to the moments unfolding naturally around us.

The goal is simple:

Photographs that look beautiful now — and feel even more valuable with time.
